The study of the FORTRAN language leads to understanding how to write programs in general to solve problems that are difficult for humans to solve or to reduce time compared to manual computation. Additionally, this programming language aims to teach concepts such as simplicity and the art of programming.
In this subject, students will master a fundamental aspect: developing a set of behaviors to ensure that the programs or code they write are readable, comprehensible, and understandable.
Knowing this, FORTRAN (FORmula TRANslator) is a highly powerful programming language tailored for scientific calculations. It excels particularly in numerical mathematical models requiring high resolution. Therefore, it provides a solid foundation for advanced stages of academic progression.
This lecture, entitled "FORTRAN Language", is divided into a set of learning units. These will allow us to understand the background and basics of the flowchart or the FORTRAN algorithm (Also the historical side), which describe the essential syntax of the FORTRAN language. Additionally, we will master the fundamental concepts of how the machine works and how they are applied to our problems. During these steps, students will encounter some issues and philosophies of coding that they will adapt to.

Learning goals:
- Mastering programming is essential in computer skills.
- Designing a simple program or code using FORTRAN.
- Understanding the application of loops (if or do) and knowing when to use each of them.
- Implementing FORTRAN in designing programs or codes for physics and chemistry subjects.
