Social and human sciences is an introductory course designed for first year license students of English. This course, scheduled in a weekly session, introduces students to both social and human sciences’ main disciplinary perspectives and makes students aware of the interdependence and interdisciplinary nature of these sciences. Our concern in this course is twofold. The main concern is to introduce central concepts in both social sciences and humanities and describe the individual social sciences and humanities and the particular ways in which they contribute to our knowledge. The main objectives are:
• to establish that the study of social sciences includes interconnected disciplines like history, geography, economics, political science and sociology and discusses the different stages and civilizations through which human societies evolved.
• to give students an overview of some of the greatest cultural achievements of man and an understanding of how societies express ideas through art, literature, philosophy or architecture and more.
