English Literature is a course that tackles major periods in the history of English Literature along with representative writers who reflect the concerns and issues of each period. The course introduces the student to the Romantic period, the Victorian Age, and Modernism along with texts produced by famous literary figures of each period like William Wordsworth, John Keats, Percy Shelley, Lord Byron, Mathew Arnold, Robert Browning, Charles Dickens, Virginia Woolf, and William Butler Yeats. The course aims to enable students of third year to form a critical debate about different periods and movements so that to build critical opinion about changes in the status quo and the socio political concerns of each period and how these changes are reflected in the writings of these periods.
