This course deals mainly with literary criticism and its major trends. It also tackles issues like the American Dream, the City in Modern American Literature and culture, Feminism, Gender, the sixties Counter-Culture, Regionalism and the literature of minorities.
The objectives of this course are to widen the knowledge acquired by Master degree students in their 3rd year literature course and to acquaint them with the basic literary theories and approaches. In the process, they are expected to acquire the necessary theoretical tools to approach various American literary texts (poems, novels and plays) and develop critical interpretations.
