This lab is intended for first-year undergraduate students in science and technology. By the end of this lab course, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify laboratory equipment (calorimeter, burette, pipette, pH meter, etc.) and describe its proper use.
  2. Explain the principle of equality of heat exchange, the principle of reverse transformations, and the principles of acid-base colorimetric and redox titration.
  3. Apply data into literal and numerical expressions and equations that model the situation.
  4. Perform organized, rigorous measurements using the calorimeter and other laboratory equipment.
  5. Calculate heat capacities, specific heat capacity, concentration, and pH from experimental data.
  6. Evaluate the reliability of results by identifying sources of error and uncertainty.
  7. Write clear, rigorous lab reports presenting data, calculations, and conclusions. (Create)
  8. Demonstrate scientific rigor, safety, and responsible professional behavior in the laboratory.
