This course introduces students to documentary research methods and the basics of academic work. It focuses on learning how to search, select, and use information sources (books, articles, digital resources) while developing essential skills in reading, writing, and academic study, both on paper and online

By the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1.Distinguish between different types of scientific documents (books, periodicals, theses, etc.)
2.Develop skills in research, reading, and analysis of scientific documents.
3.Master note-taking and academic writing techniques.
4.Communicate effectively in written and oral academic contexts.
5.Become familiar with the scientific research process and teamwork.

By the end of this chapter, the student will be able to:

Identify and distinguish between the different types of scholarly documents (books, printed and electronic periodicals) and understand their roles in academic research.

Effectively analyze and use paratextual elements and internal and external research tools to locate, understand, and assess relevant information.

Methodically employ navigational tools (table of contents, index, bibliography, glossary) to optimize document consultation and information retrieval.

Produce a well-structured and rigorous reading sheet that supports knowledge capitalization and the development of academic research work.

understand the concept, purposes, and importance of note-taking in academic learning contexts;

identify and apply appropriate note-taking tools and strategies before, during, and after lectures;

distinguish between the main note-taking methods (linear, structured, guided, and visual) and select the most suitable one according to the learning situation;

use abbreviations, symbols, and organizational techniques effectively to produce clear, efficient, and meaningful notes for revision and academic work.
